Climate change and fertiliser delivery!

Law Fertilisers have been advising farmers how to make the most of climate change when it comes to crop nutrition but the company who supply fertiliser to the UK have been adapting their delivery logistics with climate change in mind.

“Recently we have taken delivery of 1000 tonnes of soluble phosphate from Russia. In the past the journey has taken a lot longer as the Baltic has, more often that not, been frozen. This year the trip has been much more straight forward and rapid, with the ship docking in Long Sutton port with no delays due to cold weather. We import this 98% water-soluble phosphate from Russia as it is of the very best quality and is taken up by the plant much more efficiently. Other suppliers of liquid and suspension fertilisers are using poor quality rock phosphate, which is only soluble in pH’s of less than 5,” points out Mark Law, Managing Director of Law Fertilisers.

“By importing ship loads of raw material direct from the country of origin to local ports and being able to formulate it in our factory near March allows us to provide a high-quality and tailor-made product at a lower cost directly onto farm,” says Mark.
